The Garden Club of Santa Barbara

Lady Buds

Lady Buds is a small group of ladies from The Garden Club of Santa Barbara that meet once a month in a member's home to socialize and have fun. However, their real purpose in meeting is to spread cheer to the residents of PATH (formerly Casa Esperanza) and The Friendship Center in Montecito.

PATH, a homeless shelter in Santa Barbara, provides a variety of services for our neighbors experiencing homelessness, which includes employment, outreach, housing navigation, interim housing, and rapid housing. While PATH is working to rebuild lives and strengthen our neighborhoods, Lady Buds is working alongside them offering a gesture of kindness in hopes it may brighten their residents' day. The ladies make 25 floral arrangements to be placed on the shelter's dining room tables. The reception is always positive, as the ladies report, some residents have never experienced the joy of receiving flowers.

Along with delivering flowers to PATH, Lady Buds does the same for The Friendship Center in Montecito. The Friendship Center offers adult day programs that promote socialization and foster a compassionate community for aging adults. These flower deliveries put a smile on the faces of those in attendance at the Friendship Center. Lady Buds enjoys sharing generosity and tenderness with the homeless and aging in our community.
