An essential focus of The Garden Club of Santa Barbara is educational programs for its members and the community. Our flower shows, for instance, provide learning opportunities for all. At our 2023 Flower Show, we created a presentation about our water sources in Santa Barbara historically and how we can conserve water while still creating beautiful gardens. Since the initial exhibit, the display has traveled to the Crane School in Montecito, the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, the City of Santa Barbara's Water Efficiency display at the Garden Street public lobby, and at Earth Day. Our Program Chairs design educational programs for our monthly meetings that stimulate, inspire and inform. Programs often feature distinguished guest speakers who are leaders in the fields of horticulture, conservation, creative arts, historic preservation, and environmental protection. |
This Educational Exhibit was entered into The 2023 GCSB Flower Show 'In the Garden of Splendor & Delight' and focused on Conservation and Water Sustainability in Santa Barbara: How Our Gardens of Splendor and Delight Can Thrive in Times of Drought. This exhibit now travels throughout the Santa Barbara school system educating our young students.
